Day 1: Sorong airport - Raja Ampat

Arrival in the Raja Ampat Archipelago

You arrive at Sorong Airport in West Papua on the island of New Guinea. You are picked up by your driver who takes you to the town's harbour where you board the ferry directly to Waisai. After a 2-hour crossing, you arrive in Waisai and meet your boatman at the pier, who takes you to your accommodation by motorboat. After about 30 minutes you have arrived in paradise. The small bungalows are built on stilts directly above the turquoise blue sea and lovingly decorated. The guesthouse is run by a very nice local family and they will give you a warm welcome. You settle into your bungalow and rest from your long journey.

10 min drive, 2 h ferry, 45 min motorboat. With English speaking local guide. Accommodation : bungalow on stilts in paradise. Meals: lunch and/or dinner depending on arrival time.

Day 2: Raja Ampat

Free day in paradise

You wake up to the sound of birds and the waves. You enjoy your breakfast overlooking a crystal clear sea. Today is at your leisure. Relax on the terrace of your bungalow, read or put on fins, mask and snorkel for a snorkeling session in the surrounding bay. Just a few fin strokes from your bungalow is a wall of colourful and phosphorescent coral that hides hundreds of fish, turtles, but also small black-tip sharks! Or take a walk along the coast to the nearest village for a fresh coconut.

Day 3: Raja Ampat

Boat trip to Piaynemo, Arborek and Pasir Timbul

After an early breakfast, your boatman picks you up and takes you by motorboat to Piaynemo Island. You cruise for 1 hour through the famous Raja Ampats waterscape, with its blue waters and lush karst islands. At Piaynemo, you climb the 300 steps to the top of the island and enjoy a breathtaking view of the archipelago. You continue your boat trip to the village of Arborek, a typical island village. There are few vehicles here and all the roads are made of white sand. Take a walk through this idyllic village before discovering the snorkeling sites nearby. After snorkelling, enjoy a picnic in the shade of the coconut trees before continuing to Pasir Timbul, a strip of white sand that surfaces at low tide and is known for great diving and snorkelling. Return to the guesthouse in the afternoon.

Day 4: Raja Ampat

Day 5: Raja Ampat

Birds of Paradise watching tour

You wake up very early this morning for a chance to see the bird of paradise. You leave the guesthouse around 5am with your local guide, who picks you up by boat to take you to the nearby village. There you walk silently through the forest in search of the beautiful birds of paradise, one of New Guinea's icons. Sunrise is the best time to watch them singing and dancing. In the treetops you can usually see several males doing their mating dance. Back to the guesthouse around 8am and the rest of the day is at leisure. 

 

20 to 30 min walk. 20 min boat. With English speaking local guide. Accommodation: bungalow on stilts in paradise. Meals: full board.

Day 6: Raja Ampat - Sorong airport

Last day in Raja Ampat

Enjoy your last moments in paradise before you are taken back to Waisai harbour by motorboat. There you take the ferry to Sorong where you then meet your driver who takes you to Sorong Airport for your onward flight. You are accompanied by your guide until entering the airport.

 

10 min drive, 2 h ferry, 45 min motorboat. With English speaking local guide. Accommodation: bungalow on stilts in paradise. Meals: breakfast.
